What are systems and why do you and your business need them?

Systems are game changers for your life and your business. Simply put, systems, otherwise known as processes, are repeatable processes for how something works. You probably have systems in your personal life. For example, you might have a morning system; you wake up at a certain time, put on the coffee, get ready for your day, and start your work day. You repeat this process every day.

It is critical to have systems in place in your businesses and organizations and ensure they are followed by all. Without systems, we have to rethink how to do a task or project each time we encounter it. And each employee may do tasks different ways. This leads to inefficiency and confusion. By developing a system that is efficient we add value to our organization. Your employees, won’t have to think about the process each time they encounter it. You will want to write each process down. I repeat: write your processes down. It is important to document each process you have into a sort of systems bible.

Your organization will want to have at least three systems:

1) Revenue generating system - a way that your people are hearing about you or how you are reaching your market

2) Service system - how you deliver service to your client. This is a repeatable process.

3) Operations systems - this is the nuts and bolts of you organizational needs and includes accounting processes, HR processes, filing processes, etc.

Systems give you back your time and your life. They are the key to your businesses. By implementing a great system for each area of your business, you will free up time in your day, expedite your training process, and your business will run as smooth as a well oiled machine, meaning you will spend less time in your business.
